The Farmer and The Chef is a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, with proceeds going directly to the mission of the March of Dimes.
The premise of the event is simple, pair local farmers with local chefs. While the event is a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, we are also helping to create sustainable relationships between local farmers and chefs, while reinforcing the movement of eating healthy which is something the March of Dimes believes in and promotes to women who are considering pregnancy.
With Agriculture being such an important industry in Delaware, it is vital that we support our local farmers and for us to make sure that people know they can buy fresh, local produce right here – literally in their own back yard.
The event itself will feature local farmers who will provide their product to chefs who will then prepare tasting samples to all event attendees using this product. Each chef will use a Dogfish Beer in preparing their dish. The evening also includes auction items, wall of wine, and music by 33 1/3.

First Place: Chef Jim Berman from Gordon Foods with his farmer, Class Produce with Dogfish Midas Touch
Second Place: Carlie and Scott Carey from One Coastal with their farmer, Bennett Orchards with Dogfish Namaste
Third Place: Chef Bill Karrow from Baywood Greens with his farmers, Bennett Orchards, Mar-Del Watermelon Association, Lewes Dairy and Dogfish Midas Touch

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality and we are focused on advancing research on maternal and health issues, helping moms have healthy pregnancies and supporting families. We help moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. And if something goes wrong, we offer information and comfort to families. Makayla was born at 3:00 in the morning at 27 weeks and 5 days gestation and stayed in the NICU in Christiana for almost 2 months. The NICU experience was very hard on our family as we lived 1 ½ hours away from the NICU. The March of Dimes, NICU Nurses, Staff and Doctors kept us informed every step of the way. March of Dimes made us feel like family by having Father's Day dinner, classes, emotional support, and literature and so much more. We are forever grateful to the support of March of Dimes during one of the hardest times emotionally for our family.
