Hy-Point Dairy was just a vision 90 years ago in 1919 when John A Meany and Elizabeth Spahn Meany began what is now a well-known family tradition throughout Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Today, with our third generation leading Hy-Point and the fourth generation just beginning, we remain committed to deliver the highest quality products to each and every one of our customers. Whether it’s our wholesome dairy products, our juices and drinks, or our old fashioned ice cream we stand behind our Hy-Point seal.
M. Fierro & Son began in 1928 by the late Naples, Italy native Michael Fierro Senior. In 1936, Michael Fierro Senior decided to buy the Italian Republican Club on Sixth Streets between Lincoln and Union right across from Peter Papa’s (currently Papa’s Market). Due to the increase in cheese business outside the Delaware borders, the Fierro brothers decided to expand to the present address at 1025 North Union Street in Wilmington.
Fierro specializes in Italian-style cheeses all made on premises and handmade. These cheeses are fresh, hand-labeled, certified Kosher, and preservative free. In 2007, the local family run dairy plant Hy-Point Farms purchased M. Fierro & Sons’ business. Currently, one of the fourth generations Meany’s oversees the everyday operations of M. Fierro & Sons. Since then we have reserved all the same traditions of the Fierro family while incorporating some of our own.
